Workshops

I produce and deliver creative workshops – these can accompany a storytelling.

My workshops often explore a theme. I can provide creative games/challenges, craft and or drama activities or a mixture. I always tailor my workshops, depending on your theme, audience, aims and venue. I have provided workshops in and for galleries, schools and outdoor spaces.

I have also created and delivered treasure hunts, mainly for ages 5-11 years. In 2019, I created and delivered a treasure hunt for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust exploring local bird wildlife, with the aim to find a mystical egg.

Do get in touch with me for a friendly chat – no obligation and I’m always happy to provide professional advice free of charge.

Publishing – Patterns in the Jam

In 2014, after completing The Princes Trust Explore Enterprise Program, I decided to publish a children’s picture book The Rare Monkey with the Colourful Bottom. In 2016, I wrote and published The Rare Monkey Can’t, Couldn’t, Can!

Both picture books are packed full of stunning illustrations by Jeffrey Mundell.

Both stories are humorous, while at the same time exploring the importance of being kind to yourself and others. I decided to print every book here in the UK to help reduce freighting; both books are available via The Rare Monkey shop and are stocked in many bookstores throughout the UK.

In 2019, I published Christmas Tree as an ebook – it’s a short story about modern, urban life, the elderly, the isolated and Christmas.

I’ve recently turned a collection of flash fictions into an paperback and audiobook called Four Walls. I’m continuing to work on a collection of short stories and a novella.

I have a growing collection of short stories and poems that I’ve written for children. I often use these in my storytelling’s and I’m beginning to work these into fully illustrated and professional published paperback, ebooks and audio books.

I publish using the name Patterns in the Jam – I wrote this on my phones notes years ago and it stuck: patterns are everywhere and I love jammin.

Writing

I often use my own writing in my storytellings, for both children and adult audiences. I can create short stories and poems to commission.

In 2014, I finished writing and published a children’s picture book, aimed at ages 2-5 years, called The Rare Monkey with the Colourful Bottom; in 2016 I wrote and published The Rare Monkey Can’t, Couldn’t, Can! which was shortlisted for the 2017 Rubery Book Award Children’s.

“It’s a lovely book with a valuable lesson demonstrated in a pleasing way.”

Rubery Book Award 2017.

In 2017, I had the chance to research, create and perform a 20 minute storytelling about Hasting’s during the Victorian times – this was part of an event called Storylines. I also had the chance to attend a poetry workshop which sparked my interest in creating poetry. That year, I attend a workshop by Spread the Word and wrote Flat, which was shortlisted and published in their 2017 anthology City of Stories.

In 2018, The Princes Trust commissioned me to write a short story on the theme of Christmas. I wrote and performed Christmas Tree for their 2018 Christmas concert.

In 2019, my poem called 3 and one of flash fictions called Desirable were performed at the Tristan Bates Theatre, by Naked Frank Theatre as part of a project exploring mental health.

I have just finished a collection of my flash fictions, called Four Walls which I’ve made available as an ebook and audiobook. I’m continuing to work on a collection of poems, another collection of short stories and more rhymes and short stories for children/younger audiences.

Acting

My acting CV, showreel and agent’s details can be found on Spotlight.

I feel very lucky to have played a variety of roles for screen and on stage. I also have experience working as a puppeteer, physical performer, motion capture performer and a divisor of new work.

This year I have had the pleasure to continue working for for Bicycle Ballet, a physical, street theatre company that creates outdoor shows celebrating all that is cycling. In 2021, I assisted on an R&D’s and took time to focus on my writing.

At the start of 2020, Dead Quiet – an immersive and interactive show about espionage set in 1962 – entered its fourth run at Kensington Central Library. I played the role of the academic Ruby Kowalski for some of the run. In late 2019, I played the role of model Lesley Garnet in several shows. It’s been great to have been involved in this production since its inception in 2018.

In 2019, I puppeteered Swivel and Chipps in a new children’s production called  Magpies and Mischief at the Jersey Arts Centre. In 2018, I helped devise and performed the role of Sally in Lyngo Theatres family show Heart of Winter at the Watermans, London. In 2017 I was Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for my role in the independent feature Sophia Lazzati at the International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema, Berlin.

Lancaster Skies, an independent feature, created by Callum and Andy Burn, set during WW2 continues to be available on streaming series and DVD. In the film, I play Kate Hedges.

Lastly, I have created some quirky, lighthearted skits for my youtube – check out Tish, Cassie and Posey.

If there is something else you’d like to see on this page, please do email me and let me know about it.

Storytelling – Stories Everywhere

Storytelling promotes imaginative and critical thinking, as well as making us curious explorers of the world around us.

For younger audiences, storytelling help develop a life-long passion for reading, writing, active listening and public speaking.

I have delivered storytellings for and in galleries, schools, bookshops, libraries and outdoor spaces. One great thing about storytellings is they can take place (pretty much) anywhere. The storytellings I create and deliver often using a mix of new and well-loved, yet reimaged, stories and fairy-tales. I sometimes mix in some poems, rhymes and lightly interactive challenges, as well as select props and or picture books for young children.

I tailor every storytelling depending on your audience, venue and aims.

I’m continually redesigning my sessions to adhere to COVID-19 guideline’s. I have an enhanced DBS and public liability.

My speciality lies in delivering creative, very enjoyable storytelling performances for early-years and primary aged children. I’m also passionate about writing new fiction and poems for both adult and younger audiences.
